Being an avid researcher, this new period in my life brought a new drive to focus my research on women’s healthy aging, not only in North American, but also other cultures throughout the world. I wanted to see if there were differences between how we North American women experience perimenopause, menopause and the post menopause years compared to women, known to live long, healthy lives in the Blue Zone countries.

Along with these differences, I also set out to learn more about how women age and what we need versus how men age. Women are often just lumped in with men in healthy aging studies, but our hormones can make a big difference in how we respond to diet, exercise, supplements and even timing of eating versus men’s responses.
